How to create a nourishment menu is an essay from my newsletter. Subscribe here if you enjoyed it.
I was talking with my friend Jill yesterday about how she loves to walk in fresh-cut grass as a way to decompress. I agree, there’s something about that feeling under your feet that is very soothing.
If you’re lucky enough to be by the beach I’m team feet in the cold morning sand. I find it to be both calming and energizing. I don’t know, maybe I’m just weird.
Finding ways to cope with stress is important and often overlooked.
Every day I make sure to choose one thing as a way to de-stress and calm the fuck down. Sometimes it’s meditation Sometimes it’s sitting still and doing nothing. Just being with my thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Simply letting them come and go.
Other times I’ll journal, drink wine, and eat dark chocolate while watching Mandalorian. Every so often I’ll go on a walk with a friend and talk about shit we don’t want other people to know about us.
If you have time today, create a simple “nourishment menu” for yourself. How can you fill your cup each day physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally (is that a word – it is now), or in any other way that is meaningful for you.
This practice isn’t about fixing anything or solving a problem. It’s about setting aside time every day for yourself so that you can show up as the best version of yourself.
Health extends far beyond what we eat and how we move. I hope this short read acts as a reminder.
Or you can ignore everything I just said and simply like the picture. I mean, it is pretty rad – amirite?
